For other Washington locations, the notary travel fee is $50 PLUS $1 per mile roundtrip from my door to yours.  Please CALL 360-280-0888  to schedule your mobile notary appointment with me and confirm your rate, then pay my notary travel fee as instructed.

To pay w/CREDIT CARD: https://pay.carmenlane.com/NOTARY  After notarizations are performed, you will pay $15 per notarization (via same payment link or you can pay cash or check).

To pay w/VENMO: https://account.venmo.com/u/CarmenLaneLLC

*In Washington state, notary travel fees are not required by law, however, I do charge a travel fee in my mobile notary business and want you to be aware of this. My minimum basic notary travel fee is $50 USD plus $1 per mile round trip door to door. *WAC 308.30.220: "A notary may charge a travel fee when traveling to perform a notarial act if: '(a) The notary and individual requesting the notarial act agree upon the travel fee in advance of the travel; and '(b) The notary explains to the individual requesting the notarial act that the travel fee is in addition to the notarial fee in subsection (1) of {WAC 308.30.220] and is not required by law' (WAC 308.30.0220[5])."   Notary travel fees are non-refundable. Unpaid mobile notary travel fees will result in appointment cancellation. If you do not agree to my notary travel fee, please do not book my notary services. You may take your documents to nearest UPS Store, other notary public, or to your attorney .

EXAMPLES OF ACCEPTABLE GOVernment-ISSUED PHOTO ID:

  • Driver's License (issued within U.S. including U.S. Territories)
  • Non-Driver State Photo ID (issued within U.S. including U.S. Territories)
  • U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card
  • U.S. Military ID Card
  • U.S. Military Dependent's ID Card
  • Government Employee ID
  • Tribal ID Card
  • Foreign Passport
  • Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
  • Trusted Traveler ID (TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, SENTRI, or NEXUS, Fast)

VALID GOVERNMENT-ISSUED PHOTO IDENTIFICATION IS REQUIRED.  I must be able to identify each signer. Each signers must be present in person with a valid, unexpired approved form of government-issued photo ID to the Notary Public.  Photocopies of IDs are not sufficient. All forms of ID must be the original, physical document. You must take your ID out of your wallet for me. I must hold your original valid ID in my hand to inspect it.  ID cards which are falling apart, illegible, damaged or appear to have been tampered with will not be accepted.

A NOTARIAL CERTIFICATE IS REQUIRED FOR NOTARIZATIONS, PER WASHINGTON STATE LAW. The certificate contains notarial language which tells me what type of notarization to perform. If your document doesn't already have a notarial certificate with correct notarial language, you must instruct me which notarial act you need or you can  CHOOSE AND PRINT the appropriate notarial certificate to attach to each document that you wish to have notarized.

BE READY FOR YOUR NOTARY:

  • Remember your document must be completed/filled out by you (no blanks) and must include correct notarial language so that a notary stamp may be applied.
  • Wait to sign.  For verifications upon oath or affirmation and witness signatures, you must wait until you are in front of your notary, so the notary may watch you sign.
  • All signers must be present with a valid government-issued photo ID. Make sure the names on signer IDs match the names listed on your documents.
  • All signers must sign notary journal and swear or affirm to the notary: That they are who they claim to be in their government-issued photo ID, that they are the person named in the document and are signing as a free and voluntary act, they understand the purpose of the document, and/or that any statements they are making in the document are true and correct to the best of their knowledge.

Notaries cannot notarize blank documents. Your documents must be filled out by YOU in advance. Any witness statement must be filled out by your witnesses, not by the notary.  If you need assistance filling out any of your documents, you must ask a friend or family member to assist you or a licensed attorney. I am prohibited.

General notary public work does not involve document handling. Typically you would already have your document prepared and ready for me to notarize when I arrive.  I can travel to your location, verify your ID and complete my notary journal entries including swearing/affirming, determine the number of notarizations required ($15/notarization plus any unpaid travel fee), perform the notarizations, review for completion, collect payment, and depart immediately after.

IF YOU REQUIRE ME TO HANDLE YOUR DOCUMENTS in addition to performing notarizations, document handling is  extra and must be discussed and arranged in advance. "Document Handling" is where you require me to receive, print, transport, hand-deliver, scan, email, and/or ship your notarized documents with tracking via FedEx or UPS, etc . Document handling fees and loan signing services start at $150 to $550+ depending on travel distance, notarizations, and page count.  A prepaid FedEx or UPS return shipping label must be provided by you. If one is not provided, I can ship it for you within the U.S. at an additional charge. A physical U.S. shipping address must be provided for FedEx and UPS.

NOTARY SERVICES I DO NOT PROVIDE: I do not provide jail notary services,  I-9 employment eligibility verification, Apostilles or Certificates of Authentication, or FBI clearance letters. Notaries do not transcribe or certify transcripts of court hearings as it is prohibited -- please contact the court reporter.  I do not speak Spanish. If you require a Spanish speaking notary, contact Margarita Nuños (408) 712-3049. No hablo español. Si necesita un notario que hable español, por favor contacte a Margarita Nuños (408) 712-3049.

WITNESSES: The notary does not provide witnesses for notarizations - that is your responsibility. If your document requires witnesses to sign, you must provide witnesses and ensure they have valid unexpired government-issued photo ID.  Your witness should be at least 18 years old and of sound mind, and should not be a beneficiary or party to your document.

NOTARY LOCATION REQUIREMENTS:  If I am required to travel to your location, we will need a well-lit,  well-ventilated workspace with a table large enough to hold your paperwork so we can both sign comfortably. A kitchen table is a perfect place for notarizations, if we are signing at your home. The table should be cleared off and should have a flat, smooth surface so that my notary stamp will make a clear, crisp imprint on your document.

IF YOU HAVE DOGS: I really love dogs, but kindly corral your fur babies so they won't be able to jump on me or my car or your paperwork when I arrive.  Thank you :-)

NOTICE AND DISCLAIMER: I am an independent contractor providing notary and document handling services.  I am not a licensed attorney or real estate or financial professional.  I am not authorized or permitted to provide any advice whatsoever on legal or real estate or financial matters or loan documents.  Please do not ask the notary for legal or financial or personal advice, including how to fill out your documents or how to answer questions contained in your documents. For general notary work, my job is to verify the signer's ID, confirm the signer's willingness and understanding to sign, administer any oaths, witness signatures on the document, and perform notarizations and leave.  I do not render advice or opinions (please do not ask) and I am not responsible for the content errors in your documents.

I AM NEUTRAL IN ALL TRANSACTIONS:   I am not there to push you to sign your documents, nor to dissuade you from signing your documents. I am an independent contractor. I am not directly employed by any title company,  financial institution, or attorney.  If you have specific questions about your documents which I cannot lawfully answer, you must contact your attorney (or your lender or title company,  if it is a real estate or loan transaction). I do not render advice or opinions (please do not ask) and I am not responsible for the content errors in your documents.

CANCELLATIONS: For general notary public work, if you must cancel the signing after I have begun travel to or arrived at our agreed location for the scheduled notary appointment, the non-refundable notary travel fee still applies! And if your document was also printed by me at your request,  print fee shall apply as well. In the unlikely event that I must cancel a scheduled appointment I have with you, I will issue you 100% refund of the pre-paid notary travel fee and will delete/shred any documents you sent me for printing.
