hiring A MOBILE NOTARY TO COME TO YOU

FOR RATE QUOTES, AVAILABLILTY, OR TO BOOK: Call 360.280.0888

HOW TO PAY: Full payment is due at time of service via cash or local personal check made payable to Carmen Lane LLC. A written  receipt will be provided.

RATES: My mobile notary rate is $10 per notarization plus a travel fee of $35 and 50 cents per mile roundtrip from my door to yours.  Use Google Maps to estimate specific mileage from door to your door.  If you live on an island and I must take a ferry to reach your location, understand that time/cost will be added on as a travel fee.*

*In Washington state, notary travel fees are not required by law, however, I do charge a travel fee in my mobile notary business and want you to be aware of this. My minimum basic notary travel fee is $35 plus 50 cents per mile round trip door to door. *WAC 308.30.220: "A notary may charge a travel fee when traveling to perform a notarial act if: '(a) The notary and individual requesting the notarial act agree upon the travel fee in advance of the travel; and '(b) The notary explains to the individual requesting the notarial act that the travel fee is in addition to the notarial fee in subsection (1) of {WAC 308.30.220] and is not required by law' (WAC 308.30.0220[5])."   If you do not agree to my notary travel fee, you could contact The UPS Store nearest you or a notary public or law office closer to you. Find a UPS Store Near Me    Find an Attorney Near Me    Find a Notary Near Me

VALID GOVERNMENT-ISSUED PHOTO IDENTIFICATION IS REQUIRED.  All signers must present a valid (unexpired), approved form of government-issued photo ID to the Notary Public. All forms of ID must be the original, physical document. Photocopies or a photo of an ID on a mobile device does not suffice. Take your ID out of your wallet for me. I must hold the original valid ID in my hand in order to inspect it.

Examples of acceptable government-issued photo ID for in-person notarizations:

  • State Driver's License (issued within U.S. including U.S. Territories)
  • Non-Driver State Photo ID (issued within U.S. including U.S. Territories)
  • U.S. Passport
  • U.S. Passport Card
  • Foreign Passport
  • U.S. Military ID Card
  • U.S. Military Dependent's ID Card
  • Tribal Card

A NOTARIAL CERTIFICATE IS REQUIRED. The certificate contains notarial language that tells me what type of notarization to perform. If your document doesn't already have one, you may either instruct me which notarial act you require, or you may select and print the appropriate notarial certificate form to attach to your document to be notarized.

BE READY FOR YOUR NOTARY APPOINTMENT :

  • Your document must be completed/filled out by you (no blanks) and must include correct notarial language so that a notary stamp may be applied.
  • WAIT TO SIGN! Wait until you are in front of your notary so the notary may watch you sign.
  • All signers must be present with a valid (unexpired) government-issued photo ID.
  • All signers are required to swear or affirm to the notary: That they are who they claim to be in their government-issued photo ID. They are the person named in the document and are signing as a free and voluntary act. They understand the purpose of the document and  statements they are making in the document are true/correct.

Notaries cannot and do not notarize BLANK DOCUMENTS. Your documents must be filled out by you. Any witness statement must be filled out by your witnesses, not by the notary.

General notary public work does not involve handling your documents such as printing or file conversions or shipping, hand delivery, scanning, or emailing. Typically you should already have your document printed out and ready for me to notarize.  I travel to your location, verify your ID and complete my notary journal entries, determine the number of notarizations required ($10/notarization plus travel fee), perform the notarizations, review for completion, collect payment for the fees, provide a payment receipt, then depart immediately.

If you require me to handle your documents in addition to basic notarizations, document handling is an additional cost and must be discussed and arranged in advance. ("Document Handling" is where you require the the notary to receive, print, transport, hand-deliver, scan/email, or ship your notarized documents with tracking via UPS or FedEx.) Document handling fees start at $150 to $550+ depending on travel distance, notarizations, and page count.  A return shipping label must be provided if you require me to return or forward these executed documents on your behalf.

NOTARY SERVICES I DO NOT PROVIDE: I do not provide jail notary services,  I-9 employment eligibility verification, Apostilles or Certificates of Authentication, or FBI clearance letters.

NOTICE AND DISCLAIMER: I am an independent contractor providing notary services.  I am not a licensed attorney or real estate or financial professional.  I am not authorized or permitted to provide any advice whatsoever on legal or real estate or financial matters or loan documents.  Please do not ask the notary for legal or financial or personal advice, including how to fill out your documents or how to answer questions contained in your documents. For general notary work, my job is to verify the signer's ID, confirm the signer's willingness and understanding to sign, administer any oaths, witness signatures on the document, and perform notarizations and leave.

I AM NEUTRAL IN ALL TRANSACTIONS:   I am not there to push you to sign your documents, nor to dissuade you from signing your documents. I am an independent contractor. I am not directly employed by any title company,  financial institution, or attorney.  If you have specific questions about your documents which I cannot lawfully answer, you must contact your attorney (or your lender or title company,  if it is a real estate or loan transaction). Also, I am not responsible for the content or typos or spelling errors or mistakes contained in any document that you submit to me for notarizations.

WITNESSES: If your document requires witnesses, you must provide them and all signers must be present with valid government-issued photo ID.

ARE YOU WORRIED ABOUT HAVING A STRANGER COME INTO YOUR HOME?

As a mobile notary, I want you to feel comfortable and safe with me. I have photo ID that I can show you. I usually wear my ID on a lanyard around my neck.  Feel free to ask me! I am onboard for doing whatever is going to make you and your family feel the most comfortable, most safe.  I can wear a mask and gloves, if you prefer. We can notarize at your kitchen or dining room table, in your garage, or even outside under a covered porch, if you like, as long as weather permits and your paperwork is protected from any wind and rain.  (If you have children, please make sure they go play in the other room until we are finished.)  If you prefer to meet at your local Starbucks, Cutters Point, or other coffee shop to sign/notarize your papers, we can do that too. Simply tell me the location name and address and we can arrange to meet there.

SIGNING LOCATION REQUIREMENTS:  We need a well-lit,  well-ventilated workspace with a table large enough to hold your paperwork so we can both sign comfortably. The table should be cleared off and should have a flat, smooth surface so I can make a clear imprint of my notary stamp on your documents for you.

Q. What if I am in Washington State and I have a document that needs to be signed and notarized but the signer is in Australia?

A. If your document cannot wait until they return to the U.S. from Australia to sign in front of a notary public in Washington,  you may want to instruct your signer to contact the U.S. Consulate in Australia to make an appointment to have the document notarized and their signature witnessed at the closest consulate office. Instruct the signer to bring the document along with their valid government issued photo ID such as a passport. IMPORTANT: Make sure your document contains proper notarial language -- that is, a notarial certificate -- so that the notary public or other authorized officer at the U.S. Consulate in Australia may perform the notarization.
